🌬️ Chill in the air? Zip it up! 🤐

OVER 15% OFF — THIS WEEKEND ONLY!

Happy National Poetry Day! Here's a little frightening verse from yours truly:

There once was a man from Nantucket
whose shirt was too short to tuck it
To keep his bare belly
from becoming too chilly
He bought a fresh zip-up and loved it!

Alright, now that we've dispensed with the clunky limerick portion of today's email, let's talk flash sales!

This weekend only, we're offering TWELVE of our most popular designs on these super-soft, incredibly cozy zip-up hoodies AND we're doing it for over 15% off!

You may be wondering "if these zip-ups are so great, why aren't they a regular item all the time?"

Well, they're a little more expensive than pullover hoodies because Big Zipper needs their cut. They're also a little less predictable from an inventory availability perspective. We actually had two other specialty shirt styles planned for flash sales this fall and have to postpone them because of supply chain issues.*

*Speaking of which, get ready to hear a LOT about supply chain and inventory issues in the coming months. If you thought 2020 was bad, you better strap in and get your holiday shopping done early this year.

If you're a fan of our regular pullover hoodies, you're in luck — these lovely zip-ups are the the same fit and fabric, just with a zippered front! Plus, printing on the back of these allows us to offer some of our taller designs that we normally don't print on pullovers due to that useful-but-pesky front pocket.

So, they're cozy. They're soft. They feature soft, durable prints of my (presumably appealing) designs and illustrations. They're able to be put on and removed without ruining that stunning hairdo you're sporting. AND they're discounted by over 15%? That's a lot of value!

BUT — this collection is only available through 11:59PM Sunday night, so don't dilly-dally! Marlene, Samantha, and David on the customer service team are under strict instructions not to make any exceptions for procrastinators that try to slide into the inbox after this sale turns into a RuPaul-o-lantern.

A few key answers to zipper-y questions:

Q: Is it 15-ish% off EVERYTHING on the Boredwalk website?

A: Nope, just the sweet selection of zip-up hoodies shown above — though you can take 10% off your order when you spend $100 or more and use the code YAY10 at checkout. If you're like me and struggle with basic arithmetic, that means that if you're feeling extra-saucy and order $100+ worth of these hoodies, you can save an additional 10% off them and other non-flashy items in your cart AND have them all ship for free within the US. WHAAAAA?! 🤯

Q: This is a new shirt style for me and I'm not sure how it will fit. What if it doesn't?

A: Due to the limited nature of the sale (as well as that sweet discount), all zip-up hoodie sales are final, meaning no returns or exchanges. The GOOD news is that they have a comfy unisex fit, and if you click the link or GIF above and check out the SUPER-helpful sizing chart in the image gallery on the product page, you'll find detailed measurements AND pix showing the hoodies on even more bodies!

If you're still not sure which size to order, here's what to do: measure a hoodie you have at home to compare with our sizing chart. Lay your favorite hoodie (make sure it's zipped up for an accurate width measurement) on a flat firm surface and measure across the chest 1" below the arms to get width and from the high point of the shoulder to the bottom of the hem to get length. Our sizing charts show product measurements, so if you know what measurements you're looking for choosing the right size will be a breeze.

Q: Why are you only offering twelve designs on these? I was really hoping to get the _______ design on a zip-up.

A: Again, inventory issues. Since these are tougher to get ahold of, we'll need a few more days than usual to get them and print on them, and we wanted to test the waters with popular designs on color ways that were more readily available. It also just makes printing more manageable for the production team if they know there are only going to be a dozen different art files to work with for this particular style, which is important since we normally don't print on the back of shirts much.

If you REALLY want to get one of our other designs on this style, you totally can, but it will have to be a regular-priced custom order request. You can reply to this email with requests for other graphics on this style and our customer service team will be happy to help.

Q: I hate hoodies! When will you make something *I* want?

A: This isn't the last style-specific flash sale we're running. Just keep opening these emails and keep your eyes peeled — I'm confident we'll do this again with a shirt style you DO like in the near future! Just be patient with us; we're a small company full of sensitive people with limited bandwidth.

Ed. note: Boredwalk co-founder Meredith and I LOVE these hoodies (both the pullovers and zip-ups) and wear them all the time! How's that for an endorsement?

No NEW art this week, but don't worry — I have a devilish new design in the works that I will hopefully be able to present to you next Friday. We DO have a fresh podcast episode, though — and with a very cool guest, to boot!

Before we get to that, though, let's raise a piece of cake to these birthday persons! I have grouped them thusly:

• Actors: Walter Matthau (1920), George Peppard (1928), Richard Harris (1930), Julie Andrews (1935), Jurnee Smollett (1986), and Brie Larson (1989)

• Comedians: Zach Galifianakis (1969)

• Statesmen: Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the United States of America (1924)

• Most Magical Places on Earth: Walt Disney World, which opened to the public on this day in 1971

• Iconic Late Night Shows: The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, which aired for the first time on this day in 1962. Weird, wild stuff!

Alright! Podcast time! This week Boredwalk co-founder Meredith and I are chatting with comedy writer and fellow podcaster Sarah Merrill, creator of the VERY popular @BigKidProblems Instagram account, blog, and podcast!

We talk to Sarah about her journey into the adult world out of college, the challenges of crafting relatable content on a daily basis that resonates with her audience, her creative process, dealing with haters and trolls, and how the big kid problems of a single 22 year old in college differ from the big kid problems of a married 30-something who's been adulting for a minute now.

Sound fun? It should, because it was! Click here to listen!

Alright! We'll be back here in your inbox next week with a fresh Boredwalk Community Q&A with a fan just like you! We'll also have another new podcast episode to share, and — hopefully — that aforementioned new design! Until then...

Peace, love, and poems,

Matt
