🌩 I've got a forecast for you... ☀️

THINGS ARE LOOKING SINISTER

Happy National Pots De Creme Day! If, like me, you are an uncultured non-Francophone, that's fancy-talk for "single-serve loose custard." I'm sure it's very delicious, but I have to draw a line somewhere, and for me that line is no consumption of foods described as "loose." The implication of how it might affect my sensitive tummy is unseemly.

It's poop. The implication is poop.

It's 💩. The implication is 💩

Today is also Tracky Dack Day in Australia. Because when I think of "people known for wearing a lot of track suits," I think of Australians, naturally.

We have a new podcast episode this week with a very cool guest, but before we get to that let's raise a celebratory ramekin of pots de creme to these birthday persons!

Alles gute zum geburtstag to German idealist philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, born this day in 1770! Mr. Hegel inspired many philosophers in the 1800s, but the description of his philosophical beliefs was surprisingly inefficient for a Wikipedia page about a German dude. The more I read, the further I got from grasping it. Good luck!

з Днем народження to Ukranian poet, social critic, and activist Ivan Franko, born this day in 1856! Full disclosure: I didn't know a lick about Mr. Franko before I started working on this email, but dude spent decades cultivating an epic 'stache, and that seemed worthy of acknowledgement.

Happy birthday to 36th U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson, born this day in 1908! Sure, he may have escalated US involvement in the Vietnam War, but he also expanded civil rights, Medicare, Medicaid, public broadcasting, appointed the first African-American justice to the Supreme Court, and spearheaded increased upward mobility for low income Americans during his presidency thanks to his "War on Poverty" initiatives.

Happy birthday to actor, comedian, and writer Charles Fleischer, born this day in 1950! Mr. Fleischer has had a multi-faceted career in entertainment, but is most well-known as the voice of Roger Rabbit.

Happy birthday to Paul "Pee-wee Herman" Reubens, born this day in 1952! I don't really have anything else to add, other than I will fight anyone who argues that Pee-wee's Big Adventure isn't a comedic masterpiece.

Grattis på födelsedagen to Swedish actor Peter Stormare, born this day in 1953! Mr. Stormare isn't the most famous actor of Swedish birth (everyone knows that's Dolph Lundgren, duh), but he gets included in this email for playing a bumbling nihilist in The Big Lebowski, a bumbling electrician who doesn't know what an electrical outlet is in a classic episode of Seinfeld, and a bumbling kidnapper with a fondness for axe murder and wood chippers in Fargo. He's something of an on-screen bumbler, is what I'm getting at.

Finally, a very blue-colored birthday to everyone's favorite TV meth chef, actor Aaron Paul, born this day in 1979! Mr. Paul got his start in Hollywood in the late 1990s in music videos and breakfast cereal commercials, which led to small roles in various TV shows and movies, but his big break arrived in 2008 when he was cast as bumbling meth dealer with a heart of gold Jesse Pinkman in hit television show Breaking Bad. A lot of bumbling this week, huh?

Alright, podcast time! This week co-founder Meredith and I had the pleasure of speaking with writer, speaker, and fellow audio entertainer August McLaughlin of the Girl Boner book and podcast!

In it, we discussed August's beginnings as a model, which in turn led to a journalism career, which in turn led to writing and speaking about women's sexuality and sexual empowerment!

August also tells us a bit about her own podcast, her first book Girl Boner, and her forthcoming book with Jamila Dawson (LMFT), With Pleasure, which is all about helping folks with trauma manage triggers to still have a vibrant sex life and healthy interpersonal relationships. Pretty sweet, huh?
