Clean up your act! 🧼

OR AT LEAST SPRUCE UP YOUR COLLECTION OF DECORATIVE TOWELS

As I sat down to write today's email, I was concerned that the late hour and my subpar takeout experience (unanticipated raw tofu in one's green curry is decidedly NOT good eats) would result in a somewhat "phoned in" experience.

Turns out I needn't have worried, as today's random holidays have got us covered on that score.

College Colors Day? *yawn*

Lazy Mom's Day? Yikes!

Skyscraper Day? Good grief, September 3rd! Are you even a real day!?!

Not even an enthusiastic truffle shuffle could make September 3rd interesting.

Thankfully I was able to squeeze in some time this week to repurpose some classic Boredwalk designs into fresh 3-piece dish towel sets, as seen above! If my dear departed Nana were still alive, I'm sure these would have a treasured place in her drawer of crisp towels that are to be admired but never used, right next to the decorative rose-shaped soaps that are to be smelled but never used.

Hopefully I will be able to get some more design work done next week, as spooky season is breathing down our necks and we have some fun ideas in the works to help us all celebrate it in style!

We had a very cool guest on the podcast this week, but because I was printing shirts all day yesterday I did not have time to edit it in time for inclusion in this email, so you will have to just twiddle your thumbs in anticipation until then. How suspenseful!

In the meantime, let's see if September 3rd can at least come correct with some worthwhile birthdays, hmm? Oof. Slim pickings, I'm afraid. *groans, rolls eyes* Let's do this, I guess.

Happy birthday to Beach Boy Al Jardine, born this day in 1942! Fun fact that I did not know until just now: Mr. Jardine co-founded the Beach Boys with primary songwriter Brian Wilson while they worked on harmony concepts in the music department at El Camino College. Apparently he was a big-time folkie and learned banjo and guitar in an effort to push the then-nascent Beach Boys into a more folk-oriented direction, but rock & roll won out. Jardine sang lead on one of my very favorite Beach Boys singles, 'Help Me, Rhonda' in 1965.

Today is also the birthday of Carlos Irwin Estévez, aka Captain Tiger Blood, aka #Winning, aka Charlie Sheen, born this day in 1965. He...has a lot going on.

Finally, happy freedom day to abolitionist, orator, social reformer, writer, and statesman Frederick Douglass, who escaped slavery on this day in 1838! Okay, September 3rd — I guess you can sit with us.

OK! If you're in a spending mood this weekend — like, say, buying some of those rad towels — don't forget to use the code SUMMER10 at checkout to save 10% on orders of $75 or more!

We'll be back here in your inbox next week with a fresh Boredwalk Community Q&A with a fan just like you! We'll also have the aforementioned new podcast episode to share, and maybe more new art! Until then...

Peace, love, and fancy towels,

Matt
