I'VE GOT BAD NEWS FOR YOU, THENĀ šŸ‘†

Happy National Happy Hour Day!Ā What better way to try and forget thatĀ the world is going downhill fastĀ than by ingesting some reduced-price snacks and libations? A half-priced domesticĀ and some cheap wings & fries may not solveĀ allĀ of civilization'sĀ ills, but it will fill your tummy and blunt the sharper edges of reality for a spell. Sounds like a win to me!

Shaun of the Dead, waiting for this whole "reality" thing to blow over.

The slow, inexorable trudge toward humanity's extinction is a great opportunityĀ to head to your favorite watering hole and wait for this whole "reality" thing to blow over.

Today also happens to be National French Dip Day,Ā so bonus points if your Happy Hour location of choice is offering discountedĀ au jusĀ sammies to help soak up all that other liquid* you'll be imbibing this evening!

*Shout out to our sober subscribers who will be getting all hopped up on sugary Shirley Temples instead tonight!

To go with our faux French sandwiches (the French Dip was created here in Los Angeles in the early 1900s), let's pass around some birthday cake for these November 12th babies:

French sculptor Auguste Rodin, born this day in 1840!Ā Most famous for his iconic sculptureĀ Le PenseurĀ ('The Thinker'),Ā myĀ favorite work of Monsieur Rodin's is actually the full piece from which The Thinker was pulled,Ā The Gates of Hell, a depiction of a scene from Dante's allegorical epic poemĀ Inferno.Ā Because of course it is.

Writer, activist, and suffragette Elizabeth Cady Stanton, born this day in 1815!Ā Along with Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass, and other likeminded changemakers, Ms Stanton was a pivotal figure in the push to abolish slavery in the U.S., secure the right to vote for African-Americans and women, and generally campaign for equality under the law.Ā

Canadian-American singer-songwriter, musician, and activist Neil Percival Young, born this day in 1945!Ā Mr. Young, besides being one of my favorite musical artists of all time, was a pivotal member of influential bands Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young and also an incredibly successful solo artist. Oh, he was also in The Mynah Birds with Rick James back before either was famous. Wild! Key tracks: 'Tell Me Why,' 'Cortez The Killer,' 'Cinnamon Girl,' 'Ohio,' 'Down By The River,' 'Helpless,' 'Rockin' In The Free World,' 'Only Love Can Break Your Heart,' and several dozen others.Ā Ā

Hollywood hottiesĀ Grace KellyĀ (1929),Ā Ryan GoslingĀ (1980), andĀ Anne HathawayĀ (1982) were also born on November 12th.Ā

Once again,Ā I did not have time to edit and publish a new podcast episode for your listening pleasure. I'm sorry! In my defense, I was busy working onĀ that new design up there, interviewing some smart folks to possibly work here at Boredwalk HQ, and planning some fun stuff coming your way in next week's emails.

Speaking of which, you'llĀ definitelyĀ want to keep your eyes peeled for more emails from us next week, as there are going to be some savings in store!Ā I'm going to apologize now (and over the coming weeks) for the increase in emails we'll be sending, but I promise to make them as funny and full of discounts as I possibly can. ICYMI, start planning now with thisĀ sweet holiday gift guideĀ we shared over on our blog earlier this week!Ā It's worth a click purely for the jokes.

If you're feeling impatientĀ andĀ generous and want to order some stuff now, though, you canĀ save 10% on orders of $100 or more with the codeĀ YAY10!Ā Orders of $75 or more qualify for free U.S. shipping, too, and if you've been paying attention to how much shipping costs have gone up this year you know that's a pretty sweet deal!

We'll be back next week with more new art, a podcast for your ear holes (I promise!), historical facts, bad puns, and more, so stay tuned! Until then...

Peace, love, and dodging the moguls of existence,

Matt
