Happy National Cheeseburger Day!

Yes, I know that we just celebrated National Double Cheeseburger Day on Friday, but I don't make the rules โ€” apparently Big Burger does, and they want us stuffing our faces with their wares 24/7, 365.

I will say this, though: I am a much bigger fan of the single-patty burger than the double.ย Every time I go onto Instagram and see these mountainous tributes to gluttony bursting at the seams with so many toppings and sauces that they either require utensils to eat or a shower afterward if you're using your hands, I just think "John Montagu* must be rolling in his grave."ย Food shouldn't feel like a dare

* John Montagu was the 4th Earl of Sandwich and the alleged creator of the foodstuff that bears his name. He was fond of gambling and would instruct his valet to bring him salted meat between two slices of toasted bread so he could eat while continuing to play cards without getting his hands (or the cards) greasy.ย Necessityย gambling addiction is the mother of invention, as they say!

Just put it down, Rachael! You don't even look happy, you look uncomfortable and overwhelmed.

Today is alsoย National Respect Dayย (always earned, never owed),ย National First Love Dayย (Katie J., Graham Road Elementary in Fairfax, VA, 4th Grade), andย National Cartonnage Day.ย (Because nobody wants to be handed loose burgers. Box those babies up)! Celebrate accordingly.

ย Regarding theย Follow Your Schemesย art on display up top, as well as the designs in our last few emails:ย you may be sensing a theme.ย Well, get used to it, and I hope you like black, because it may still be September but as far as this guy is concerned Spooky Season is here, and I am going to revel in every. last. second of it.ย We'll resume the jewel-toned programming in November.ย Maybe.

Tammy feeling uncharacteristically gregarious in herย Antisocial Butterflyย tee!

1. What's yourย actualย day job and what's yourย dreamย day job?

I'm a nanny. Lately I'm wondering why do we have to work. I'd rather spend my time left here enjoying the earth and not feeling depressed about it.

2. What's your biggest pet peeve?

When someone just shows up unannounced to my home. IYKYK.

(It is wild that people still do this.)

3. If you could have any super power what would it be and why?

Flying, of course!

4. You can curse your nemesis with a minor annoyance for eternity; what do you choose?

For the rest of their days, there will be theme music playing in their head according to what they are doing. It may be fun at first, but after a while, oooo they are going to get so annoyed!

5. Clear up a misconception (about your job, where you are from, some other topic you know a lot about).

I'm from Louisiana, but have lived around the US, and people I've met would always say I'm from New Orleans. Once I met a group from Ireland in Vegas, and they thought Cajun was just a type of spice.

6. Where can the rest of the Boredwalk community find you?

I'm @i_see_tacos on Instagram and TikTok
