🤔 How do Dracula & Wolf Man celebrate long weekends?

🐺 THEY HIT THE OPEN ROAD 🦇

Well, we did it — we made it through another interminably long week on this miserable ball o' mud. Where's our medal? We deserve one!

I guess we'll just have to satisfy ourselves with a long weekend wherein we feel depressed about dead soldiers, sailors, and airmen (airpersons?) and try to eat our feelings before going for a swim, presumably while wearing white (Memorial Day is weird holiday).

But that is three whole days from now! Today is Friday May 26th. And you know what that means: the true reason for the season.

Happy World Dracula Day!

YES!

Why would May 26th, a day resplendent in sunlight and greenery, possibly be Dracula Day? Because it's the anniversary of the 1897 publication date of Bram Stoker's timeless tale of literal bloodlust!

If anyone epitomizes optimistic nihilism, it would have to be a foolish realtor going on a road trip* to eastern Europe in hopes of landing a sweet sales commission from a sallow-skinned member of the landed gentry eager to purchase a palatial flat and sow his immortal oats in swinging London.

* Fun fact: today is also National Road Trip Day! Freshen up that coffin, Vlad — time to hit the open road, as the shirt up top indicates!

Want some amusement while you wait for your new Vlad & Wolfie tee to arrive? Check out the newest episode of the Boredwalk podcast! This week Boredwalk co-founder Meredith and Grace from the content team talk about the horrible men who have popped up in the comment sections of our recent social media posts, and dealing with social anxiety.

They also ask each other questions from our conversation cards, the Delve Deck, and get into what grosses them out and what they hate about celebrity gossip culture.
Finally, they wrap it all up with the Question of the Day: What fashion trend can you not pull off no matter how popular it is? (Looking at you rompers, long dresses, and gaucho pants).

Tune in and get ready to laugh at some misogynists, because how else are we supposed to deal with them?

OK, let's kick off the weekend with a bunch of May 26th birthdays and historical facts to impress your friends at the cookout with:

• The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was released this day in 1967. Give it a spin!
• Birthday celebrants include: actor John Wayne (1907), actor Peter Cushing (1913), dancer & choreographer Frankie Manning (1914), jazz legend Miles Davis (1926), doctor and assisted suicide activist Jack Kevorkian (1928), glam-rock icon and David Bowie collaborator Mick Ronson (1946), singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks (1948), actress Pam Grier (1949), astronaut Sally Ride (1951), comedian Bobcat Goldthwaite (1962), singer-songwriter Lenny Kravitz (1964), and actress Helena Bonham Carter (1966)
• Pour one out for: avant garde jazz guitarist Sonny Sharrock, who gifted us all with the dissonant, unmistakable theme music to Space Ghost Coast 2 Coast before passing this day in 1994, and Chief Vibe Officer of Depeche Mode Andy Fletcher, who hopefully got some great reward when he exited the stage a year ago today.
OK, that's it for this week! We'll be back here in your inbox on Monday with another email and (hopefully) a fresh customer Q&A! If you'd like to be featured in an upcoming email reply to this and let us know!

Peace, love, and goth road trips,

Matt
