How to best celebrate World Goth Day? 🦇

STAY INSIDE &
CREEP IT REAL 🧛🏽

Happy National Vanilla Pudding Day! I am not one for pudding generally, but I do appreciate vanilla as a flavor. Some might say it's boring, but those people are stupid — ignore them. Vanilla is delicate and nuanced...like yours truly.

You know who's not delicate? Boredwalk's fearless leader (and my better ⅔) Meredith.
Fittingly, the random occasion powers-that-be must be aware of this, because today also happens to be National Boss Babes Day.

Less fittingly, Meredith is much more inclined to celebrate World Goth Day and chuck anyone who would dare designate her a "boss babe" into a portal to the nether realm. Beware her grim visage!

Not you, though, dear reader. You're cool.

Since we are basking in her shadowy magnanimity, she is offering 10% off both our activity books when they are purchased together! Even if you have both for yourself, they make great gifts since they don't involve devising creative ways to ask friends and family delicate questions about sizing, and also get them off their phones.

Just click here (or the eye-catching animated GIF at the top of the email) and scroll down to the blue "grab this deal" button on product page. It's really quite easy. So easy that you should do it just to experience this marvel of modern technology!

• On this day in 1807 a grand jury indicted former Vice President of the United States (and noted Alexander Hamilton murderer) Aaron Burr of treason. What a villain this guy was!
Abolition of vile and inhumane policies had a big day on May 22nd — the penal transportation of convicts to the New South Wales colony in Australia was abolished this day in 1840, and slavery in Martinique was abolished in 1848.

• In 2015 the Republic of Ireland became the first nation in the world to legalize gay marriage

Lots of birthday celebrants to honor today, including:
• Politician and LGBTQ activist Harvey Milk, born this day in 1930! Today is also Harvey Milk Day in California!

• Belgian author & illustrator Hergé, the creator of the Tintin series of comic books (1907)

• Singer-songwriter Steven Patrick Morrissey (1959). Probably best-known as the lead singer and lyricist of the influential band The Smiths.

Rep. Sharice Davids (1980), the first openly LGBTQ Native American elected to the United States Congress.
Pour one out for:

1. What's your actual day job and what's your dream day job?

I do Quality Assurance for a medium sized biotech company as my actual job. My dream job would be an all expenses paid travel reviewer for tours and resorts, only I get to submit reports with my mind.

2. What's your biggest pet peeve?

Drivers who can't be bothered to use turn signals. Why is this simple communication tool so hard for some people?

(Editor's note: Hard agree. It especially drives me nuts when I see law enforcement officers fail to do this — which is like 99% of the time I see them on the road while on the clock. If the people tasked with enforcing laws don't model correct legal vehicular behavior, civilians are going to shirk it, too.)
3. What's a book you think the Boredwalk community should read?

Anything by Barbara Kingsolver.

4. If you could have any super power what would it be and why?

Teleportation, so I would never have to get on an airplane again.

(Or see people fail to use turn signals again. A two-fer.)

5. If you could curse your nemesis with a minor annoyance for eternity, what would you choose?

A perpetual hair in the mouth.

(Solid entry!)

6. If you could make a mundane wish (meaning, a wish for something seemingly inconsequential that you still believe would benefit you immensely), what would it be for?

To learn to roller skate — I seriously cannot get myself past duck walking and actually roll.

7. What experience do you most want to cross off your bucket list?

I got to cross off visiting Antartica this year. 🐧

Next, I really want to see the northern lights.

8. What is something you wish you could go back in time and say to your younger self?

Tell Mom and Dad about the bullies.
9. Where can the rest of the Boredwalk community find you?

Walking around town, dancing like no one is watching or binge-watching my latest streaming obsession.

And there is always Instagram and TikTok.
